# How to Transfer Your Identity Cloak Playback Plugin License to a New Machine

## Follow these instructions to Transfer Your Identity Cloak Playback Plugin License to a New Machine

### Who should read this guide

This guide applies if you have the following

- You have an **active, paid contract** with Facit.
- You were previously issued a license key for the Identity Cloak plugin.
- The plugin is currently installed on an **old machine** and needs to be moved to a **new machine**.

### A. Transferring your Online licence to a new machine

#### Step 1: Retrieve Your Existing License Key (On the Old Machine)

1. Open the **Milestone XProtect Smart Client** application.
2. Go to **Configuration and** open the **About** tab.
3. Locate and **copy your existing license key**.
4. **Save the key** in your records (e.g., a text file) before proceeding.

#### Step 2: Install and Activate the Plugin (On the New Machine)

1. Run the **Identity Cloak plugin setup file** on the new machine. See our guide on [How to Install the plugin](https://knowledgebase.facit.ai/knowledge/how-to-install-facits-identity-cloak-playback-plugin?hsLang=en)
2. Open the **Milestone XProtect Smart Client** application and open **Facit Video Redaction** tab.
3. Select the option **Already have a licence**.
4. **Paste your existing key** into the Licence key box and click **Save**.

#### Step 3: Contact Facit Sales

1. Once you have saved the licence key, please **inform the Facit Sales team**.
2. The Sales team will then **inform you when they have activated your licence** on the new machine.

### B. Transferring your Offline licence to a new machine

If you have an Offline licence contract with Facit follow these steps: 

#### Step 1: Retrieve Your Existing License Key (On the Old Machine)

1. Click **Configuration** and open **Licence** tab.
2. Download Product key. This will be a file with an extension ".fa"
3. Save the file and send it over to Facit team.
4. The Facit team will provide you with the licence key. Save that licence key in your records.

#### Step 2: Uninstall existing plugin from your old machine.

1\.Access Settings/Apps/Installed Apps on your old machine. 

2\.Search for Facit's Identity Cloak Milestone Plugin and click **Uninstall.**

#### Step 3: Activate the Plugin (On the New Machine)

1. Click **Configuration** and open **Licence** tab.
2. Paste your licence in the Licence key box and hit **Save**
